Check the facts. Not only search parts of the newsletter, but also the logical order of things. The facts that have been collected a meaning? Apply common sense to all their results and ask questions.
Do not accept carte blanche research from sources I do not know. What do I mean by this is really the kind of research that we often see advertising, offering to prepare your tree for a fee. Beware of these types of agreements. The research that these trees are based often questionable. Save your money and do the research yourself. It is after all a part the fun of genealogy!
If your family has spread its wings across borders, be careful when collecting facts. For example, the dates may be written differently depending on where in the world is then. Simple mistakes can be made in these circumstances. Date 05/04/75 means something different to people in the United States it takes for the UK population.
Do not make assumptions any information you can find. Stick with the data it has collected. A small incident can lead to all sorts of directions that have not really come down. Remember that relate to things differently now than they did in the past years, and when something is made in letters from 100 years ago, I could not say it to you and your parents.
Joining two websites that have experience in the genealogy. Talk to like people and get the benefit of their experience. Not only have offered their own tips to share to help you, they will have access to fonts that you never could have imagined. It's worth the time talking to other genealogists.
