What is the best place for family genealogy research?
In the USA, Ancestry.com, $ 159 per year. In States United for free, is a tossup between Rootsweb, GenForum, pieces of free descent, the site of LDS and U.S. Gen Web. People ask this question so often that we Top 10 standard copy and paste responses. Here's mine: There are over 400,000 free genealogy sites. I have a page that has links to below the giant but will travel tips and a first warning. If you did not mention a country, we can not tell if you are in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada or Australia. Am in the U.S. and my links are for him. If you are in the U.S., and most of their ancestors were the U.S., and access to a library or FHC with census access and are white you can put more of their ancestors who lived in 1850 with 100-300 hours of research. You can get to 1870 if you're black, unfortunately. Many young people stop reading here and pick another hobby. No site will tell you how their grandparents decorated the Christmas tree with ornaments cut aluminum foil during the depression, how Great Uncle Elmer wooed his wife with a banjo, or how Uncle John made his way through college in 1960 by smuggling herbs. Speech living with your parents before it is too late. You will not find people living in genealogy sites. You back to the people living in the year 1930 more or less talking to parents, observation of the obituaries, etc. Well, not everything you read on the Internet right. You should exercise caution and examine the sources of people. Cruz and check. So much for the warnings. Here is the main link. http://www.tedpack.org/yagenlinks.html This page provides links and tips and tricks on how to use the sites for a dozen huge free sites. Having a link here in the answer and a dozen links on my personal site gets around two problems. First, Y! A limit to 10 links in a response. Secondly, if one or more links are very popular, I get "We take a break" when I try to show response. This is a bug introduced in August 2008 with the new look. You need the advice. For example, most beginners are put in too many query data RWWC page, or make the announcement at the top of the slope of your order. I used to teach a class on Internet Genealogy at the library. I've seen the mistakes beginners. Consultation Forms sites are not intuitive.
